Another one I really loved from Barker, even if critics were mostly negative, was LORD OF ILLUSIONS.
not to mention CANDYMAN, one of the finest horror flicks ever, although he didn't direct that one.
I can't wait for someone to make movie based on Waveworld. That book is one hell of a horror story.

Recent "DREAD" was good. Not sure about "Book of Blood" still haven't check it out, and "Midnight Meat Train" was good. It was directed by the same guy who made Japanese cult classics "Alive" and "Versus" so no wonders why it had terrific action scenes and polished look.
if you haven't seen "VERSUS" go check it out quickly, it's one of the best action horrors ever. Plot: in world, there are 666 gates to Hell. One of them is in Japan, and it's seal of Resurrection... which means, everyone killed in that forest where the seal is, returns back from the dead as zombie. Some of the coolest action scenes in history of cinema. Gun and sword fight with zombies? Martial arts fight against zombies? Badass ending? You can see it there.

I did sit through the ENITRE Director's Cut of Lord of Illusions though. Not worth it. 2.5 hours of bad performance art.

Lord of Ilussion... I had a same problem. Director's Cut was bit boring, but theatrical cut was much better (like Nightbreed, it's SBiG). Anyway, LoI was bit "dirty" movie, it had awkward characters and some weird scenes.
Critics also seem to hated it when it came out... no wonder Barker hadn't direct anything since.
oh, and I didn't like Scott Bacula at all. He seems mistcast.

I can only imagine him playing in some romantic rolls, and nothing else... ok, maybe some cowboy movie too.
