I wanted to let people know that purchased tickets for the show through Pay-Pal that a refund can be received due to Pay-Pal's event ticket policy. Anytime a claim or dispute is opened through Pay-Pal, Pay-Pal will put a hold on the funds paid to the seller while the dispute is being investigated. For example, if you purchase tickets to a concert or sporting event and the event is canceled, the tickets are fake, or the tickets arrive after the event and can not be used, Pay-Pal will refund your entire purchase amount. Since the show is not happening on the original date scheduled and the new dates are up in the air, all those who purchased should be refunded. I wanted to let everyone know that I have filed already since we will not be attending and Pay-Pal is already working on this. Also, for those who have airline tickets, especially through Southwest Airlines, you can cancel you ticket and they will either refund fully or hold the ticket and you can apply to another flight. The tickets will be held for 1 year from the date of cancellation (we purchased the Want To Get Away special from southwest.com, these are non-cash refundable but are held for 1 year and can be used for another flight). We have already cashed the tickets in and used them towards flights to Monster Mania in September. So all is not lost people; you will just have to do some work on your own. Then if this gets rescheduled, you can decide to either use your refunded airline tickets in May and so on. |

Good option if the show was cancelled, but its still going on. Like I said, I will gladly work with anyone who absolutely cannot attend in May and of course, figuring out compensation for airline change fees. All things can be worked out my friends. Just give us some time to sort through this mess that someone else has created for us all. http://www.fridaythe30th.com http://www.pitofhorror.com http://www.txfearfest.com

It is always a good idea in the event of a problem on a purchase to at lease open a dispute with Pay-Pal; that way they are aware of the situation. Especially for those who purchased Platinum passes. Glad I was able to help "frankzito" and that you could get your flight changed. This is very similar to what happened to the Ultimate Horror Convention that was scheduled last year in November to compete with HorrorHound Weekend. 1 month before that show, Ultimate Horror Con fell apart and a ton of people were left hanging with tickets for a non happening show. Needless to say, Pay-Pal did refund all tickets and nothing was ever heard from that promoter again. |

I cannot speak as to Paypal and the refund of the event tickets. But I just dealt with both Southwest airlines, Motel 6 and National rental car service. Here's what I found out for each for those who have similar itineraries. Southwest Airlines (800-435-9792) - gave me a credit for my tickets that is good for 1 year from purchase date (for me, that was 5/20/2010) but you must fly by that 1 year mark - not just have tickets purchased by that time frame. So assuming the show keeps the dates of 5/13 - 5/15 of 2011, I will just make the cut-off for my credit. Motel 6 (972-436-5008) - I had a no obligation reservation and I am sure others did as well so just call them up and give them your reservation # and they will give you a cancellation #. National rental car service - this one was a bit tricky because I went through hotwire.com. So I first had to call hotwire.com (866-468-9473) and I knew what they were going to tell me. They could not refund, credit or transfer my reservation. So I then called National rental car (800-468-3334) and gave them my National reservation # and they were able to change the dates of my reservation to Thr 5/12 thru Sun 5/15. The lady at National said to call back if I needed to change my pick-up and drop-off times on the reservations. So all in all, things went ok for me. Not sure how they will go for anyone looking for refunds. But if you used any of the services I did, I have provided their phone numbers and they were able to work with me to minimize my financial damage due to this unforeseen incident. Good luck everyone.... cypress "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy." -Tom Waits

Only problem is, many of us bought platinum tickets last year and the window for opening a dispute has long since been closed. Now they are going to ban toy guns, BUT KEEP THE FUCKING REAL ONES!!!

I also have sent emails, no response yet but will allow time to the end of this weekend, but if John has time to post on here several times he could at least take care of 1st things 1st, like address the refunds before trying to pump up people about who might be there in May, I would feel better about the whole thing then. @most_evil: I have heard this from a couple of different sources already. I have also been in contact with John and he seems to be working overtime on correcting this situation. I am not saying your solution shouldn't be used, but used as a last resort. He has asked for us to bare with him for the weekend. I don't see the harm in waiting until Monday. But thank you for the info and trying to help others. |

I have now emailed him 4 times about a refund since I cannot attend in may and so far no response. So, I smell a scam. If I do not hear from him by Monday night I will retain a lawyer to get my money back. |

So out of all the people who sent e-mails asking for a refund, how many have actually received a response back? Or better yet, actually got a refund of some sort? |

little tidbit of info for people.i talked to paypal they said because it was over 45 days they could only take a complaint.they said if they got enough complaints they would go back to the source of the problem.my credit card company said as long as he had that disclaimer in ther we would have to wait until may to see what happens .they did say however being my complaint is on file with them that if this is moved or does not happen in may that my money will be refunded. my word of advice is call your credit card company to back yourself up just in case. |
