I told John I would get with Derek about this and Got a message back from him yesterday concerning the show, and it looks like he may have a filming conflict and more than likely will not be able to attend.
This was his message,
"Right on. Please tell John that I sincerely appreciate the offer to attend Camp Blood. The reason I haven't committed to John's show is that I am scheduled to be out of town working on a feature at the time of the show. If by any chance my schedule changes, or the shoot dates are moved, I will immediately contact him about attending. Camp Blood sounds great and I hope the con is a success for him."
It would be awesome to have him as he is a huge fan favorite, and one helluva nice guy, so hopefully things work in our favor on this.

Too bad... however, we may have found the guy that played him as sack head Jason in the opening as well as another Jason that has never done a show!

OH NO...!! Hugely disappointed to learn that - I was so looking forward to meeting him & thought it would be a dead cert he would be attending.
Despite this however, it will still be one heck of a w/end!!

Guys, its not like he's rare or anything. I bet the dude did over 20 shows last year! 
I for one would like to see the other Mrs Voorhees' added. Mariyln seems like she'd do it, and Visitor is doing a few STar Trek shows this dummer!

I for one would love to party with Derek again because he is one of the coolest celebs that I have had the pleasure of drinking it up with 3 times. If Derek doesnt make it this is a great loss for the reunion. I can assure that if Derek can make his schedule work then he will be here because he loves Texas.

I've met Derek Mears twice and he is such a sweetheart. He's very personable to all his fans and he takes the time to talk to you and pose for pictures. He's also my daughter's friend on facebook and actually takes the time to answer you on it. Anyway, he does have a very important part in the upcoming Predators movie. He said he's a very distinct predator. unfortunately, didn't have a picture of his character at the time, but he said you will probably notice what predator he is. I'm also glad that Derek has gotten regular roles as an actor too. He is so nice to all his fans. I wish him continued success and believe me, if he can make the convention, he'll be there. |

I saw Predators Friday and yep Derek Mears plays the "classic" predator. In this version, there are many different predators.
Anyway, my daughter talks to Derek frequently on facebook. Unfortunately, he told her he wouldn't be able to make it to Camp Blood due to prior committments. I know he would have loved to be there and meet his many fans. He's just a wonderful person and I know he would be there if he could. Maybe next time. |
